YouTube Help, checked in September 2026, still lists ad revenue at 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified watch hours on long form in 365 days, or 10 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days. You also accept the Shorts monetisation module. Views from before you accept it do not earn.
On 10 August 2026 the YouTube blog set the next change for 1 February 2027. New applicants will need 8,000 qualified watch hours or 20 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days. Creators already in the Partner Program keep their place. From that date, Shorts ad revenue itself stays tied to 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days. Drop under it and Shorts ads pause. Long form earnings continue. The same post said YouTube now sees over 200 billion Shorts views a day, which is why the bar is moving.
Creator reports on r/PartneredYoutube are not a rate card. One monetised Shorts channel said about $0.20 per 1,000 views at 3 to 5 million views a month. Another said $0.29 per 1,000 views in Q2. At those two reports, 1,000,000 views is about $200 to $290, and only if the views count and the channel is already in the program. A channel that has not been accepted earns $0 from Shorts ads, including on a video that hits a million.
